The New Malden Chiropractic team boasts a wealth of experience, treating a range of chiropractic and sports massage patients in the heart of New Malden. Dom Metcalfe, Laura’s father-in-law, founded the clinic in 1982 and transitioned to their new site in 1998. Laura and husband Nick then took over the running of the clinic and expanded the business to a second clinic in Staines-upon-Thames. They have a range of patients, including some high-profile sports stars.
What Did We Do?
The brief for the shoot was to breathe life into their previous website, which featured stock photography and lacked a real identity for the clinic. We aimed to make the website stand out with beautiful images of the staff, the treatments they offer, the technology they use, as well as their beautiful clinic. We had two willing patients to film for a banner video, so instead of picking one on the day, we made two. It was important to feature the people who make the clinic; we wanted to include Dom, who started the clinic all those years ago, as well as Laura and Nick, who are taking the clinic to a new level. Laura asked if we could split the day into two halves due to staff working hours to get maximum coverage, and we were glad to do so. We managed to fit a huge amount of photos into the day by being efficient with lighting and cameras.
How did we do it?
Having two half-days was of huge benefit to getting the most content. While not always practical due to location, it is a great asset to shoot for a half-day, deliver the photos, and get feedback before the next shoot. We started with a schedule at the beginning of the day, with lots of patients and treatments to get through, as well as staff headshots. We made the shoot more efficient by using portable lights that we could move from one room to another, as well as having multiple cameras for each different job. This was especially helpful for staff headshots. While we had a dedicated room set up for the headshots, the camera settings for a profile shot are completely different from candid treatment shots. We set up the large softbox and remote flashes to make everyone look their best and left the camera set up in the room. We then used a separate photo camera to grab the candid treatment shots. No matter if a staff member only had a five-minute slot between patients, we were able to quickly get their headshot and move back to treatment shots with ease. For the video aspect of the shoot, with movement being the clinic’s philosophy, we wanted to convey that sense in the video. We used a handheld gimbal to track the model patients around the clinic, walking in, getting a warm welcome from the staff, and then receiving a consult and treatment from the staff.
What Were The Results?
Banner Video: We created two, one featuring a male and the other female.
12 x Social Media Videos: The clinic wanted to have some videos to share on social media to advertise their massage service.
513 Photos of the practice, staff, and treatments
What New Malden Chiropractic Had To Say
“Rob did our website photography and was great. He split the shoot over 2 days to accommodate our whole team and sent the edited shots over super quickly! His videography was brilliant too. Would recommend!”
